Through the Unknown

Through the Unknown

There are moments on our journey following the Lord

When God illumines every step we take;

There are days when circumstances make perfect sense to us

As we try to understand each move He makes.

When the path grows dim and your questions have no answers, turn to Him –

Bow the knee.*

Some time ago, life suddenly swirled into confusion.  Among other things, news that Thailand would allow foreign volunteers only 3-month visas instead of 1-year visas like before compelled my friends and me to question, “Now what?”  I spent hours bowed before God, seeking His plan for His work – and for me.

There are days when clouds surround us and the rain begins to fall,

The cold and lonely winds won’t cease to blow,

And there seems to be no reason for the suffering we feel –

We are tempted to believe God does not know;

When the storms arise, don’t forget we walk by faith and not by sight –

Bow the knee.*

So while Thailand tackled visa-right abusers and external supporters of such evils as drug and human trafficking, my heavenly Father gently guided me as I groped for each step in the darkness of unexpected transitions and decisions.

For many the waiting is over – the new Love for Asia Foundation can now provide the needed letter to obtain visas.  But during my wait, God began opening up new opportunities I’d never dreamed of.  I still have many questions, but He has answers.  In upcoming posts, I will share stories of how He leads and blesses through the unknown – then and now.

Bow the knee – trust the heart of your Father when the answer goes beyond what you can see.

Bow the knee – lift your eyes toward heaven and believe the One who holds eternity.

And when you don’t understand the purpose of His plan,

In the presence of the King

Bow the knee.*

“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye.” ~Psalm 32:8
